The Story Behind MOTE LURE: Born from a Girl’s Obsession with Giant Tuna

Hey everyone! I’m MOMO from MOMO FISHING 

Let me tell you how MOTE LURE was born — it all started with one crazy dream: “I want to catch a GIANT tuna with my own lure!” 

Back in 2022, I started making wood lures from scratch with zero experience. I researched, experimented, and failed… A LOT  But after crafting over 30 prototypes, testing them on real bluefin tuna, and refining every single detail, I finally created something special.

In November 2023, I nervously put 20 handcrafted lures up for sale. They sold out in just 3 hours  That’s when “MOTE LURE” was officially born — named by my amazing fishing community. “MOTE” means “irresistible” in Japanese, so MOTE LURE = the ultimate tuna magnet! 

Now I’m developing the next generation of MOTE LURE with 5/0 hooks for monster bluefin tuna over 100kg! This time, I handle all the design and engineering — using 3D CAD for precision blueprints, calculating wood density, weight balance, and casting distance down to the millimeter.
